To measure for band size, you need to stand up straight and wrap the tape measure around your rib cage, just below your bust line. Pull the tape measure so its snug, but not tight. Your band size is determined by adding five to this measurement. In other words, if the tape measure shows 38, your band size is 43 (38 + 5 = 43). However if the result is an odd number, round up to the nearest even number. In this case, since adding five results in 43, band size would equal 44.
Remember that if you're "plus-size", you don't need to add those 5 inches.
